2023-2024 Meet the Teachers!

We are looking forward to a great year and are so excited to introduce you to our team of teachers!

Julie Crum, Executive Director

Julie Crum is the Founder and Executive Director of SCS. Julie has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Abilene Christian University and a Master in Education from Texas A&M University. With 30 years of teaching experience in public schools, private schools, homeschool co-ops and at home with her four children at levels all the way from Pre-K to college, she is truly a master teacher.

Julie’s philosophy of education focuses on creating engaging, learner-centered educational experiences that allow all students to grow and thrive. Julie wants SCS to be a place full of life, laughter, and a love of learning where all students are honored for their God-given gifts. She believes students learn best by doing and desires to inspire teachers to embrace experiential learning in each classroom. Julie is looking forward to all God has for the SCS community this year.

Sally Bailey, Pre-K

Sally Bailey is the Pre-K teacher at Summit Christian School. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education and taught first grade prior to becoming a mom. Over the past 8 years, since leaving the public school classroom, she has taught her own 4 children at home.

She has extensive experience with young children and truly loves to guide this age as they make meaning of the world around them. Sally believes that the majority of learning at this stage is done through learner-centered, meaningful experiences where children can get their hands and minds on the subject at hand.

Her favorite part of teaching is having the privilege to see children discover and experience new things about the beautiful world God has created for them.

Sally has had her own children enrolled in SCS since its founding and is looking forward to engaging in the wonderful culture of this school as a teacher. 

Stacey Blandford, Kindergarten

Stacey Blandford is excited to jump into the amazing adventures at Summit Christian School this year as both our Kindergarten teacher and a mom to her four children who will be at Summit Christian School this year! Stacey has over 3 decades of Children’s Ministry experience and has been in many flexible educator roles, including the Elementary Librarian at Nashua Christian Academy.

While at the University of Maryland studying Early Childhood Education & Social Work, Stacey was a professional actress at the local dinner theater, so get ready to see learning come alive in Stacey’s classroom! She loves creating a warm, creative environment and learning about each child and the special gifts God has given them.

She believes that as we explore and learn about God’s creation, we connect to Him in a personal, unique way. Stacey is so excited to work with your precious children and can’t wait for the learning adventures!

Julia Ross, First Grade

Julia Ross is excited to be teaching First grade this year at SCS. Julia is an experienced educator with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. With 9 years of teaching experience in a variety of settings, including public schools, Montessori schools, and homeschool, Julia has developed a well-rounded approach to education.

She is passionate about creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, and she prioritizes building a strong classroom community where students feel safe to explore and dive deep into their interests.

By fostering a sense of curiosity and providing a supportive atmosphere, Julia encourages students to reach their full potential and develop a lifelong love for learning. She is so excited for another wonderful year at Summit!

Andrea Lee, Second Grade

Andrea Lee has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. She has sixteen years of experience working with children of all ages as a home educator, private tutor and a public school teacher. 

Andrea works hard to create a classroom community where children feel brave enough to make a mistake without fear of being laughed at or put down. She loves to create learning experiences where children get to explore, think for themselves, and discuss their discoveries and finds that she learns just as much from them as they do from her! Andrea is looking forward to a wonderful year at SCS!

Shaila McCoy, Third Grade

Shaila McCoy is thrilled to be leading learning adventures in third grade this year at SCS. This will be Shaila’s third year as an educator. Her first year in the classroom was as a substitute teacher around the metropolitan area. Last year, she taught as a fifth grade teacher for Edmond Public Schools.

Shaila graduated from Oklahoma Christian University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Public Communication and Leadership and a minor in Family Science, and she is in the process of obtaining her alternative teacher’s certification through the state of Oklahoma.

Her favorite part of teaching is helping kids grow in relationships, friendships and creativity through an educational setting, and she knows this year is going to be a blast for her third graders!

Teacher, Fourth Grade

Sara Thompson is teaching 4th grade at SCS this year! Sara has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in Counseling.  Her background is in social work and education, and she also had a wedding planning business for 13 years. 

During her teaching career, Sara taught 5th grade Reading, History, Science and Math in Texas and would like you to know that teaching Math is not her spiritual gift, but creating a vibrant learning environment is! Sara loves movement, total engagement and hands-on learning in her classroom, and her favorite part of teaching is when she sees children finding JOY in learning!

Sara fell in love with the Summit Christian philosophy when she saw her own kids thriving and excited to go to school, and she is ready for a year of fun in fourth grade.

Carrie Redding, Fifth Grade

Carrie Redding has shared her passion for teaching with Summit Christian School since its inception and is excitedly returning to teach fifth grade this year!  With a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Advertising/Journalism, and a Master’s in Education, Carrie’s extensive  teaching experience ranges from pre-schoolers to OSU students, as well as co-ops, adult training, and homeschooling her own two sons. 

A lifelong learner herself, Carrie eagerly works to help students connect their natural curiosity with new ideas and skills. She works to empower her students to build connection, confidence, and faith by discovering their unique abilities. 

In addition, Carrie engages students to learn how to present their work by using their voice effectively. 

Carrie is excited to partner with parents to create a positive environment designed to build each child’s skills through hands on projects, critical thinking, individual and collaborative experiences, exploring STEAM,  Bible and History! 

Pauline Harrison, Sixth Grade

Pauline Harrison moved to north Edmond last summer and started a new business, Eden Flower Farm and Greenhouse, with her husband. She loves flowers, her kids and grandkids, and seeing students have fun learning.

Pauline graduated from West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas with a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts & Applied Science. She also earned her teacher certification in Early Childhood through 6th grade Education in all subjects.

Pauline taught  both math and English Language Arts for twelve years in Perryton, Texas, and she looks forward to teaching at Summit Christian School. 

Maria Aquino | Secondary Spanish

Maria Aquino is teaching Spanish at SCS for the first time this year. She was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and resided there for 20 years. Maria has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management with a minor in Marketing from John Brown University. She has been a homeschool parent for the past fifteen years. She has also taught science at both private schools and homeschool co-op. Most recently, in the past five years, she made a switch from teaching Science to Spanish. She has since then taken courses in Comprehensible Input and TPRS, Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling, to facilitate students in acquiring a foreign language. Spanish and teaching her culture has become her passion. Her other passion is coaching and mentoring FIRST robotics teams from first graders through high school.

Maria knows that Foreign Language Acquisition is a lifelong process. Her education philosophy and goal as an educator is to be a fundamental step in the students’ path to continuing their Spanish journey by providing a fun and engaging classroom. Subsequently, she hopes to inspire them to embrace different cultures and their people as precious to God.

Hannah McLaughlin | Secondary English

Hannah McLaughlin is a military spouse of 13 years and the mother of three young kids. Hannah graduated summa cum laude from University of Maryland Global Campus with a Bachelor of Arts in English and has a Master of Arts in English & Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University. At the collegiate level, she has experience with face to face and distance learning, understanding the unique challenges and advantages to either. Since moving to Oklahoma in 2022, she has taught creative writing to middle/high schoolers at a Christian homeschool co-op and has continued to homeschool her own children. 

Hannah's philosophy on education is to first foster a love of the learning process through games, activities, and inventive writing prompts. She loves to watch students grow confident in their God-given skills!

Lacey Brown | Secondary History

Lacey Brown graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies Education and a minor in Business. Lacey has experience in public schools, private schools, and homeschool.

Lacey grew up with learning differences, which taught her to work hard, adapt, and use the necessary tools to succeed. In fact, she graduated with honors in both high school and college! Lacey’s personal experiences and training have allowed her to develop a teaching philosophy focused on helping students learn in a way that is intriguing, inventive, and fun so that if a struggle arises, they are able to work through it and achieve great things. 

Lacey knows first hand that learning differences do not keep students from success, and she looks forward to helping all students learn and succeed at SCS.Secondary

Natalie Tremblay | Secondary STEAM

Natalie Tremblay is a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) enthusiast and loves to help students find joy in creating in various ways. Natalie has a Bachelor of Science in Art from Harding University and is an accomplished artist. As a Muralist, she has paintings in: fire stations, schools, churches, and homes in Gaillardia and Edmond.  She is also a proud 4th generation Seamstress!  Besides practicing arts both professionally and recreationally, Natalie has 20+ years experience teaching adults and children Robotics, Art, Math, Quilting, Shooting Sports, Embroidery, Electrical, Fiber Arts, Drywall, and Plaster work all the way out to faux finishes. 

Natalie loves watching students have their "ah-ha!" moment! 🤩 Hands-on projects and critical thinking through creativity are in her wheelhouse, Adam Savage is her inspiration, and "Order of Operations" is her catchphrase. Natalie has amazing plans for students in her robotics, engineering, textile arts, and art classes at SCS.

Ellen Carroll | Secondary Science / English/ Electives

Ellen Carroll is an award-winning teacher with over 20 years of experience with a nationwide project based learning contest, National History Day. In her years of participation, she has acted as a student, judge and teacher. As a teacher, she has fostered connections between her students and various experts including high ranking military officials, movie directors, actors, tribal leaders, detective agencies, politicians, war heroes, veterans, astronauts, members of prestigious dance companies in the United States and Moscow, and countless others. She is a gifted researcher and enjoys teaching her students to engage with their community and seek extraordinary primary sources through personal interviews and higher-level research. In all her years of teaching, she has never failed to advance students to Nationals, which is the highest level of competition in NHD. In 2018, she was awarded NHD’s Teacher of the Year for the state of Oklahoma. She has recently been awarded admission to an exclusive class hosted by the Library of Congress, which she will attend this fall. 

Beyond NHD, Mrs. Carroll is passionately curious and is always looking for opportunities to learn something new.  Her college years were spent studying Forensic Science at UCO, but she is truly a lifelong learner who seeks adventure and knowledge wherever she can find it! She is currently working toward her private pilot’s license so she can chase her curiosity all over the world! 

Mrs. Carroll believes education is deeply personal and that each student is uniquely gifted. She works diligently to create a classroom environment in which all students are encouraged to discover, test, develop and CELEBRATE the talents their Creator gave them. In each of her classes, Mrs. Carroll displays her infectious love of learning by creating multi-disciplinary lessons that cultivate curiosity, critical thinking,  collaboration and FUN! She relishes every chance for connection and works tirelessly to ensure each of her students receives a tailored experience that leaves them feeling safe, understood, loved and talented.

Kristen Foshee | Secondary Math

Kristen Foshee has always adored math and teaching math. She has a bachelor’s degree in mid-level math and science education as well as a master's degree as a K-12 literacy specialist from Harding University. She taught for 7 years in public and private schools in Arkansas before becoming a full time mom! For the past 3 years, Kristen has been homeschooling her two children and has been involved in local homeschool co-ops.

Kristen believes that while math may be difficult for some students, every student deserves to learn and apply math in a way that makes sense to them. It is her goal to engage every learner during class and inspire them to complete work outside of class to improve their futures. Project based learning is a fantastic way to do that!

Misty Montgomery | Secondary Mock Trial

Misty Montgomery is the speech and mock trial teacher at Summit Christian School. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor of science in Agricultural Communications, from Texas A & M University with a Master in Educational Leadership, and from the University of Oklahoma College of Law with a Juris Doctorate with highest honors.

Misty loves partnering with young people to help them think creatively, communicate effectively, and develop leadership and personal skills. This will be Misty’s third year to lead the SCS Mock Trial team, and they have improved and advanced each year. We look forward to seeing the Mock Trial students soar this year under Misty’s leadership.
